SIGNIFICANCE OF LINE UP SECTION :
A unique and special feature of the SHHM is that we give away 3 different types of medals to our Half marathon Finishers according to their finish time. We consider the GUN TIME (not CHIP TIME) for this.
(Click here for details about Medal categories)
|MEDAL TYPE||FINISH TIME|
|HILL CHAMPION||Before 8 AM|
|HILL CONQUEROR||8 AM to 8.30 AM|
|HILL CHALLENGER||After 8.30 AM|
# START TIME IS AT 6 AM SHARP.
A Higher line up section (A>B>C) will have an advantage in getting a higher ranked medal.
e.g. Runners who start the race in Line up section A will have an advantage over Lineup Section B in getting a HILL CHAMPION medal.
This is because a Lineup section B runner will cross the start line 1 – 2 min after Lineup section A runner and so on.
The runners in section B or C are thus at an obvious disadvantage in terms of extra time required to reach the starting line. However, this cannot be helped because the fastest runners have to be at the front. The runners in sections B and C will only have to put in that much more effort to get the medal they want.
Better still, you can work harder next year and qualify for a higher Lineup section/seeding by submitting a faster qualifying time
